November 2016

Moving back to San Francisco

After going through some personal mayhem during 2016, I decided on October of that year that it was time for me to move out of Santa Clara and back to San Francisco.

I felt like the quality of the pictures were worth sharing on social media so naturally, I turned to Instagram. I quickly realized that being a mobile app, the best way to consume pictures on it was by using a portrait or square format (in order to fill most of the viewer screen with your content, in this case your photography). So I started making a habit to take my pictures in portrait and not landscape. Working with that new constrain was both refreshing and frustrating. It took me a while to get used to but I have learnt a lot from it and I think it made me a more knowledgeable photographer.

New neighborhood: The Mission

In November 2016 I signed for a new place in the mission neighborhood of San Francisco. Not having everything completely moved yet, I brought my mattress and eagerly started exploring the neighborhood on my walks with my pup Fela.

Goodbye Suburbs

Moving by myself from Santa Clara to San Francisco had me still spending quite some time in South Bay. I was enjoying my new camera so much that I began exploring the idea of a new project where I would try to take a good picture everyday and was able to keep up with this project.

Slowly moving away from landscape

Established in SF

After finally settling in the Mission, I began to explore other areas in San Francisco and see everything through new eyes. Every corner I turned seemed to inspire me more and more as I was able to discover the little gems SF had to offer me, such as my neighborhood coffee shops and the hipster barber shops. My trips to the beach with Fela showed me a new side of the city as I got to begin surfing regularly again. I knew this period in my life would be an exciting one.
